FRLA Northeast Chapter awards the Claude Collins Hospitality Scholarship to deserving students who work at FRLA Northeast Chapter member businesses or whose parents are employees of these businesses. In addition, we offer training grants to support employee development.
The 2026 Scholarship application deadline to submit an application is June 15, 2026.
Child of a parent who is employed at a FRLA Northeast member business
- This scholarship will be awarded to a child of an employee of a FRLA member.
- Employee must have worked at business for at least one year.
- Student must be enrolled/plan to enroll in a college within the State of Florida (Proof of enrollment will be required).
- Student must have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA
- Resume and two letters of recommendation are required.
- Up to three scholarships will be awarded, the scholarship amount is a maximum of $1,000.
- NOTE: This scholarship may be granted to the same individual for up to two consecutive years.
Employee at a FRLA Northeast Chapter member business attending college
- This scholarship will be awarded to an employee of a FRLA member business.
- Employee must have worked at business for at least one year.
- Student must be enrolled in a college within the State of Florida (Proof of enrollment will be required).
- Student must have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA
- Resume and two letters of recommendation are required.
- Up to three scholarships will be awarded, the scholarship amount is a maximum of $1,000.
- NOTE: This scholarship may be granted to the same individual for up to two consecutive years.
Employer/Employee Training Business Grant
- This grant is designed to help FRLA member businesses offset the cost of training and development programs that strengthen service excellence, improve employee retention, and support long-term team growth. The training program must be completed by December 1, 2026, to be eligible for reimbursement.
- Up to two grants will be awarded, this is a reimbursement grant up to $500.
- Preference will be given to active FRLA Northeast Chapter members who participate in chapter events.
Examples of training opportunities that may qualify include:
- Customer service and hospitality excellence
- Culinary or service-focused educational books and team book clubs
- Conflict resolution and de-escalation training
- Upselling and guest engagement techniques
- Leadership and management development
- Language training for guest interactions
- Digital tools and technology training
- Sales and revenue-building strategies
- Mental health and wellness initiatives
- Role-specific professional development for team members
The following training expenses are not eligible:
- Food safety or hygiene certifications
- Brand-specific, company-mandated, or management company training programs
- Required internal corporate training
This grant is intended to help offset the cost of intentional training and development investments that strengthen your team, improve service, and create better guest experiences.
Only complete applications will be considered by the FRLA Scholarship Committee & Board of Directors.
Scholarship winner will be notified and awarded in July.
